The Reverend David T. Chafin


Pastor David Chafin was called to serve as North Eaton Christian Church's Intentional Interim Minister beginning November 1, 2018. His most recent interim service was at United Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) in California, PA, where he also served as consultant to the Regional Minister of WV and PA.
He served as Deputy Regional Minister of the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) in West Virginia (and also Pennsylvania, beginning in 2015) from January 1, 2008 until December 31, 2016. Part of his regional service included brief interim service to parishes in St. Albans, Moundsville and Parkersburg, WV, and Bethany, WV, where he also served as Chaplain of Bethany College. He continues to serve as a consultant to the Regional Minister in WV, and is a Special Advisor for Capital Campaigns with Disciples Church Extension Fund.
Prior to his service with the regions, Pastor David served as called pastor of the Central Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) in Huntington, WV (2000-2008), co-pastor of Central Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) in Hubbard, OH (1997-2000), and in licensed pastoral ministry in the United Church of Christ and the United Methodist Church (beginning in 1980).
A graduate of Marshall University where he studied music, Rev. Chafin received the M.Div. degree from Methodist Theological School in Ohio in 1992, prior to his ordination in 1994 at the First Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) in Chillicothe, OH. During his tenures in OH and WV, he chaired the WV Regionís Commission on Ministry, and has served in numerous community and ecumenical organizations, including service as Chair of the Faith and Order Program of the WV Council of Churches.
Pastor David is father of two married daughters who live in WV, and stepfather of two married children--a daughter in Bedford, OH and a son near Wausau, WI. Together, they have brought 13 grandchildren into his life who are his pride and joy.
